Nothing says romance quite like Chocolate Dipped Strawberries.
A simple yet decadent dessert.
Rinse strawberries and gently but thoroughly dry - berries need to be very dry otherwise the chocolate will not adhere to the berry. Set strawberries aside until they come to room temperature before dipping.
Line a cookie sheet with freezer or wax paper.
Melt chocolate in a double boiler. Stir constantly until chocolate has melted and is smooth.
If you don't have a double boiler, fill a small to medium sized saucepan with an inch of water and heat the water over a medium heat until it boils, reduce the heat so the water simmers. Now place a large heatproof glass bowl (larger that the saucepan) over the top of the saucepan, making sure that the water doesn't touch the bottom of the bowl. Place ingredients in the glass bowl and stir until ingredients melt and are smooth. The goal is to gently melt the chocolate without scorching it.
While the chocolate is still warm, dip strawberries in the mixture, covering three-quarters of the berry in chocolate. Place on the cookie sheet and refrigerate to set chocolate and until you are ready to serve.
It's recommended that chocolate dipped strawberries are eaten on the day they are dipped.
